What program do you use to mix your songs? could you do a brief explanation on how to do it? (timing it etc) and also, do you record your voice separately and mix it with the off vocal?
What I do is import the backing track into Audacity and record my lines on a separate track- when you record, any other track you have imported in that project will automatically play (unless if you have muted it). I generally just try my best to sing along with the backing track as accurately as possible, I’m too lazy to go back and fix my timing;; One way of ensuring my timing is right is by recording separate tracks in parts/verses or certain lines that I have difficulty with.
I adjust the volume of my recording on Audacity too. Certain parts of my recordings in a track may sound too quiet or uneven compared to others so I highlight that area and go to effects > amplify to adjust the volume.
When I’m happy with the timing and volume, I then remove the backing track from the project and export the voice tracks into one .wav file. I’ll import that file and the backing track into garageband. I usually add a reverb to my voice track too, to get that echo-y effect. That’s usually all I do for mixing for most songs… other songs may need special effects like muffled/amplified/bass reduced voices but those are quite easily achievable by fiddling around with the effects options in garageband.
Sorry, I’m not really an expert in mixing or musical programs, so I hope that made sense;;
