Anon. Who do you think you are to tell people what materials they should be using? Who do you think you are to say that moleskins and copic markers are for only such purposes?
Gee, I shouldn’t be using a tablet nor a Mac because all I do is doodle on it when it’s made for so much more! Shun all the people who use moleskins for scrapbooking! Shun all the people who use copics for *gasp* …ART?
Ever seen contemporary sculptures? Plenty of materials that are used for not what they’re made for. How is this any different from using copic markers for (from what YOU perceive as) something ‘unsuitable’ for such equipment? I’m not even trying to up you one in being a pretentious art appreciator, I’m talking about tact.
While I respect people to have their own opinions, there’s a difference between expression and just being downright rude. To suggest that the artist is not worthy of those ‘expensive’ tools for ‘intricate styles’ that are achievable by the ‘highly skilled’ is accusing that the artist’s style does not require just as much effort or skill- all of which are entirely subjective presumptions on your part.
If you want someone to hear your opinion so bad, go ahead and put it on your own blog because nobody needs this kind of cowardly, self-entitled, non-constructive criticism. Exactly what do you achieve from directly telling such a humble artist ‘I don’t like you using this material because of narrow-minded reasons I will now shove down your throat’? Do you really expect that artist to bend to your will? Or for the satisfaction of putting an artist down? Because while I don’t care for you, I care that you’re disrespecting people in the artist community with such little consideration and for something so incredibly subjective.
I apologise if this was not intended to spark argument, but I cannot stand people telling me or others what tools we should or should not be using unless of course, it’s a requirement for a specific job or if we actually asked for it.
