At first I disliked her for always crying and being ‘useless’, but in face of all the trauma and chaos, you can’t really blame her since she’s really just …an ordinary school girl.
She wanted to be more than just that, which is why she chose red ribbons in her hair to stand out. Of course, like most young girls do, we change our image first when we want to ‘improve’ ourselves. Before she knew of the true consequences in becoming a magical girl, she thought of superficial wishes like being more ‘popular’, and…okay I forgot but pretty normal wishes for a highschool girl like her. Even knowing of the dangers in becoming a magical girl, she decides she wants to fight along with Mami, in hopes of being able to help others. That’s a pretty courageous decision for such an ordinary girl…or is she really that ordinary?
The entire time she took to decide what to wish for, she wasn’t thinking about herself, but for others. If she truly was an ‘ordinary’ girl, she would have already made a wish for her own benefit- but instead, she continued holding it off, carefully contemplating ‘if I can use this wish to help people, what should I wish for?’, although it can be argued she was just also really afraid of losing her humanity through the contract. With what she wished for in the end, she truly became an extraordinary existence at the expense of ceasing to exist at all, in which was only achievable through her selflessness and humanity.
